Angående min tanke om cigarrlådornas misstänkta avsaknad av spansk ceder så säger Don Gabriel idag på ett forum: "Cuban boxes are now made by okume plywood sourced in Africa, not cedar anymore. Only the thin layer that is placed above the cigars is cedar. There are several countries with nice cedar in Central America, like SC said. This is now a protected wood and is more expensice than ever, and very dificult to find. The cheapest cedrela odorata can be imported from Brasil. It's good but because is very fresh, not dried, can cause the known problems to the cigars when it bleeds. The new models of DG Cigars boxes are made from Brasilian cedrela odorata dried out for 5 years. 1M3 is costing now about 1000.00 Euros." Det är mao ganska dyrt att göra lådorna i riktig spansk ceder... |
